Gentle Ovals

This week at Joan's Gardens we are challenged with the following guidelines:
  • Use a plain background
  • Use a double oval
  • Use a sentiment
  • Use any color combination, but have at least 2
  • You must use a product sold at Joan's Gardens
  • Mention that you are doing the card/project for Joan's Gardens Challenge

So I am entering the following card:

First off, on top of the basic white cardstock, I glued a bright yellow paper; then a smaller white paper was cut, punched on the corners with a corner punch. It is dabbed with a gentle light pink ink (hardly noticeable, but it takes the edge off the white color). Then a lighter polka dot yellow oval is glued on. A second oval frame holds the oval sentiment. (This is my rendition of the double oval.) The greenery was glued on next, using two different colors of green. I saw a neat idea somewhere on the internet that used a scallop punch and several layers of pink tissue paper; they are connected by pink brads and kind of scrunched up to look something like a many layered flower. The card is finished off with a pink double loop bow. I usually put a butterfly somewhere on my cards, especially if they have flowers, but it seemed that it would upset the balance, so I left it off this time.

And here are the tools used to make the card:

  • Spellbinders:  Floral Ovals; Fancy Framed Togs Two
  • Poppy Stamps:  Lorelai Leaf
  • EK 1 1/4 inch Punch
  • Paper Studio Corner Punch
  • Pink Ribbon, Brads; Pink Tissue Paper

Items in blue may be purchased from Joan.

Romans 10:9-11
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. NLT
