Winter Weather

Today's card was so much fun because I used a new Sizzix die called Framelits Flip-Its. It was priced at $30 but thanks to a 60% off coupon at Michael's, I got it for $12.99!

I used a Stampin' Up mitten stamp, a Martha Stewart Snowflake Punch All over the Page punch and a Darice snowflake EF; the inside blank square is left without embellishment because that's where a small note can be added.

Here is the card; the left edge looks a bit wonky, but in reality, it's not.

You're Simply Amazing

Today's card is a cheery reminder that spring is just around the corner (for those living in the southern states!). I used Heartfelt Creations Delicate Asters and Spellbinders Scalloped Borders Two. The die is from Hobby Lobby, a new one--saw it there yesterday and couldn't resist it. The butterfly is from a Martha Stewart Royal Butterfly punch.

Blue and Pink Birthday

I made a simple card today using only two dies, both from Spellbinders:  Spiral Blossom One and Foliage. The roses were glittered, a double-looped bow was added and the sentiment was elevated with pop dots.

Here is the card:

My camera does not show glitter well, but this was my best try at capturing it:

Cheery Thank You

So many kind thoughts and gifts came this Christmas.  I know a lot of you, like me, are making Thank You cards to send out to those who were so thoughtful.

Today's card is a cheery, whimsical Thank You with lots of bright colors. The orange sentiment did not show up well enough on the floral background, so it was glued onto bright yellow paper and fussy cut around the letters, then glued onto the background.

These were used to make the card:
  • Cottage Cutz Flourish Layered Flower
  • Cuttlebug Thanks Die (for the orange center of the flower)
  • Little Yellow Bicycle Sentiment
  • Yellow Ribbon
  • Small Gold Rhinestones

Here is the card:

Birthday Blue

Today's card was made for a fun Mahjong friend I play with weekly. She's a delightful import from England, and is so dear.

I used a Cuttlebug Damask EF, Spellbinders Die-D-Lites Frame One, Hampton Art Mini Sentiment, Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish Die, DieNamics Prima Donna Petals Die, Small Butterfly Punch, Iridescent Pearls and Joy Craft Fantasy Butterflies Die.

Here is the card:

Psalm 118:24

Today's card was made using materials that I have had on hand for a very long time. The butterfly punch is from Martha Stewart; the sentiment is from a retired Stampin' Up group and the blue background paper was embossed with a Darice Swirls EF, then inked with purple ink. The paper behind it was also dabbed with purple/lavender ink.  Loose glitter, which is hard to see, was sprinkled on the butterflies. A grosgrain double-looped bow finishes the card.

Recycled Christmas Card #1

Years ago, before I started making my own Christmas cards, I purchased some from a local store. They were up in a cabinet for years, forgotten and neglected. I pulled them out recently and decided to use them in making creations of my own. I accented the image with gold glitter glue and also loose gold glitter. The little lamb is accented with silver glitter. The berries and eyes of the lion were accented with red liquid paint drops; background paper is embossed. Card is finished with a red double-looped bow.

Happy Birthday with Butterflies

Today I used some Stampin' Up background paper (which might be discontinued by now), because it's so cheerful. Looking at the colors makes me smile! It is mounted on a white piece of cardstock which has been run through an EF (doesn't really matter which one, because it is mostly covered), which gives a little extra dimension. The butterflies are cut from the Joy Craft Fantasy Butterflies dies; label is from Spellbinders Fancy Labels. It's finished off with rhinestones, liquid pearls and a coral colored double-looped bow.

This picture shows more of the dimension:

C is for Checks and Cyan

I was honored this week to be a guest designer for Valery Anne's Butterfly Challenge.

The card I made used a Darice checkered EF, although the checks in this challenge could also be from gingham patterned paper or cloth, or even gingham ribbon; actually, anything that is checkered would be great.  One of my favorite colors is cyan; if you own a printer, you probably know that one of the cartridge colors is cyan, which is a beautiful color similar to turquoise. The foliage is made from a Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish die.  Also used to make the card were pearls, striped ribbon, flower punches.and a thin cyan grosgrain ribbon. The butterfly is cut from the largest die in the Spellbinders Wonderful Wings set.
